Revision: 0.79

WHATS'S NEW??
-------------
** WARNING **
All users must restart ORION OUTREACH if they have been using any
version prior to release v0.79. The QUICK way to restart the game
is to delete the Orion Outreach data files (ORION???.DAT) and then
run the maintenance program ORIONMNT. The NICE way to restart is to
run the following commands (this is a generic version, you will need
to adapt it for your needs). This will credit a win to your current
current game leader.
CD C:\ORION (or wherever you put it)
ORIONMNT <yourcfgfile> /RECYCLE
DEL *.DAT
PKUNZIP -o -n ORION077.ZIP
ORIONMNT <youcfgfile>
Version 0.79
============
1. Nebula, Warp, and Black Hole displays have been changed.
2. Added BANISH command to Team menu. Allows Teams to bounce a
team member.
3. Added OPTION_TEAM2. Allows control of BANISH and TRANSFER
commands in Team menu, since these aspects of Team play could
cause some ill will.
4. Score field has been changed to allow scores >>32000.
5. Added WARP ships and warp movement.
6. Added JUMP option to allow sysop control over WARP ships.
Version 0.78
============
1. Echoing all those beeps to the sysops' console seemed
distracting (at least!). All beeps to the BBS console
(except in local mode) are gone.
2. SR and Probe scans now reveal the presence of black holes.
Version 0.77
============
1. Modified comm routines to allow sysop to watch users as they
play the game and to process sysop inputs as user input.
2. Changed timeout check to improve detection.
Version 0.76
============
1. Added support for DORINFOx.DEF drop files (QuickBBS, SuperBBS,
MajikBoard, Remote Access).
2. Fixed nebula SR scan reportage bug.
Version 0.75
============
1. Added support for DOOR.SYS drop files (Wildcat! 3.0, GAP, RBBS,
PCBOARD 14.5, maybe Spitfire?).
Version 0.74
============
1. Downsized map to [40,40].
2. Strip blanks from aliases, team names, and team passwords.
3. Added sysop options CAPTURE,DISCOVER.
4. Corrected combat resolution bug.
5. Corrected ECM resolution bug.
6. Added explicit internal version checking.
Version 0.73
============
1. Added page break to [D]isplay full map option. This makes
the map visible as separate screens, based on each users
screen length selection.
2. Made nebulas ellipsoid rather than circular.
3. Fixed owner transference problem with smart mines.
4. Eliminated players are ID'ed only by alias.
5. Resurrected players get new alias.
6. Increased map to [40,50].
7. Team passwords are now case insensitive.
Version 0.72
============
1. Added more VIRGIN protection. (Guaranteed minimum).
2. Added ECM-2 platforms. These provide ghost ships.
3. Added ECM sysop switch, prevents both ECM ship types.
4. Changed scoring values for ships.
5. Implemented nebulas and sysop nebula option.
Version 0.71
============
1. Massaged earnings ratios.
2. Fixed VIRGIN protection bug (ignored sysop disable flag).
3. Corrected planet pay-off error.
Version 0.70
============
1. Implemented new player protection bonus (300 percent).
Player status now indicates "[New]" (after SURVIVED)
if they have not attacked anyone and VIRGIN flag is set.
2. Revised age limits (downwards) for tech levels.
3. Added freighters and colony ships.
4. Now require colony ship with an escort to start or upgrade
a colony.
5. Changed score calculations to monitor both explored and
controlled sectors. This prevents the last player each day
from gaining any undue advantage.
6. Increased map size from 25x50 to 40x50.
7. Corrected limitation bug in unregistered version code.
8. The sysop's configuration mask word has been expanded to
allow control of new features and support expansion.
9. Changed base discount schedules.
10. Added hooks for nebulas and beacons.
11. Allow players to verify their alias before getting stuck
with them (in case of accidental typos, etc.).
12. Some ship classes now must be built at a base and have
minimum base type requirements.
Version 0.60
============
1. Added player aliases. This is a sysopable feature. Registered
sysops can edit the player aliases using the ORSPY program.
2. Added "Novice" menus that will display the full name for each
available option. Users now can select Expert/Novice prompts.
3. Daily log now indicates whether a player was attacked or just
discovered by an opponent.
4. Added ECM platforms. These provide cloaking of other ships.
5. Changed star system quantity limits.
6. Changed tech level requirement for P-cruisers.
Version 0.58
============
1. The actual code modules were rearranged slightly. This was
done to make supporting the ORIONSPY program (mailed free to
registered users) a little easier. The bonus was a 10K size
decrease in ORIONMNT.
Version 0.57
============
1. Team combined scores were not always displayed. The Team menu
did not alert players it was updating the report files.
2. Defensive values have been raised (again) for bases and capitol
ships. Mine sweepers no longer generate income.
3. Players were not properly creditted for eliminating an opponent
IFF the last enemy element was a base. This has been corrected.
Version 0.56
============
1. Dead players are now allowed to view the daily log. The driving
force behind this was to allow players a post-mortem when they
first discover they have been killed. It also allows eliminated
players to watch how the game progresses.
2. The player initialization has been changed to start players in a
sterile, but safe (relatively!) sector. Earlier versions did not
check for all the potential problems (e.g. black holes!).
